Alan Trotta

Alan Trotta is Senior Director, Transmission and RTO Policy at Avangrid Service Company.  Alan has been a member or alternate on the Participants Committee for more than 15 years.  Alan has over 30 years of experience in energy, where he started as a SCADA operator for Yankee Gas in 1990 and then progressed to managing Yankee’s gas supply department until 2000.  Alan then spent 3 years in Houston working in the merchant energy sector with Engage Energy and El Paso Merchant Energy in trading, origination and quantitative analysis roles before returning to New England where he worked for NSTAR for 5 years, most recently as Manager of Power Resource Planning, before joining United Illuminating / Avangrid as Director of Wholesale Power Contracts in 2007.  In his current role, Alan is responsible for transmission and RTO policy for AVANGRID’s utility businesses in the Northeast with a primary focus on transmission and RTO markets in New England and New York, as well as FERC transmission policy.  Alan recently completed his first term as Transmission Sector Vice-Chair.

Alan has a Bachelor of Science degree from Charter Oak State College.
